David Wax Museum: Artist You Should Know
As many of you know, KCRW offers up a free song every day and Today’s Top Tune, as we call it, comes from David Wax Museum, a Bostonian band blending Mexican folk and Americana roots music. They even played at the Newport Folk Festival in 2010, a huge accomplish for an up and coming band.
I must say, when I read the band name, I was instantly intrigued. Clever band names can be misleading or, at times, outright obnoxious but there was a playful nature to “David Wax Museum” and, upon further inspection, I learned there was some great music too.
Today’s Top Tune is a song called “Yes, Maria, Yes” from their album “Everything is Saved” and you can stream it below and download it right here.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Check out the video for their track “Born With a Broken Heart” below. This is what really won me over!

p.s.: Just a reminder that we’re in the midst of our Winter Pledge Drive. If you get a free song a day from KCRW and we’ve helped build your iTunes collection, isn’t that worth a donation? Think about it…
