From KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox:

Ever wonder what it might sound like if the next Bond film was scored by an cool, exotic electronic artist like Massive Attack or Bonobo?

Look no further than DC-based collective Thunderball, who have been releasing records on Thievery Corporation’s ESL Music for over a decade and have just dropped their latest full-length, “12 Mile High.”

The band continues to develop their signature sound, a potent highball of cinematic cocktail pop, Bollywood b-movie beats, drum-n-bass & dub reggae.

Their songs are all about movement through lands unknown.  “Rio Mescalito” is a personal tour of the most lush beaches of Brazil given by Luiz Bonfa, just after he slipped you a mickey.

Low Down Weather” mixes jazz guitar with a dubbed-out beat… a smooth rickshaw ride accompanied by Gabor Szabo.  And the title track feels like you are being chased down the streets of Mumbai… and you don’t want to know what happens if you get caught.
