From KCRW DJ Jason Kramer:

I was looking around my usual blogs, when I came across a band from the UK named Chapel Club, and an infectious video for a new song called “All the Eastern Girls.” I don’t think I have stopped listening to this song and, after doing a bit of research on the band, I found out they’re becoming daily water cooler talk in British music rags.

Cut to a few weeks later…I went to the band’s MySpace page to check when they would be in town and, much to my surprise, they were playing at Spaceland! I usually assume that a band I want to see either played here last week and I missed it OR they that they won’t be here for another 5 months. Now I had to go to that show. I reached out to team Chapel Club and arranged some time with the band before the show. After a lengthy conversation with lead singer Lewis Bowman, I was completely impressed by his demeanor and his attitude towards music.  It was a breath of fresh air.

Check out the track “Telluride,” which Jason Bentley has been spinning on Morning Becomes Eclectic:

Their music has a sometimes-dark, epic feel and Lewis’ vocals resonate beautifully throughout.

It’s been a while since I have seen true passion while performing and, with a new album coming out early next year that was produced by Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Florence and the Machine), I hope to see much success from this band out of London.

Check out the video that got me hooked below and tell everyone at home that you learned something new today.

Editor’s Note: Chapel Club are currently touring Europe with another KCRW favorite, Two Door Cinema Club, who made their U.S. live radio debut here earlier this year.
