KCRW hosted an intimate, private performance with Interpol last night at producer Bob Clearmountain’s Berkeley Street Studios, in advance of the release of their self-titled studio album TODAY. It’s their fourth release and you can stream it in its entirety online at KCRW.com as part of our Album Preview series. The performance, and an interview, will air this Thursday, September 9 on Morning Becomes Eclectic at 11:15am PST.

Watching the NYC indie rockers play in front of a crowd of 150 people – just 10 days before they go on tour with U2 — was incredibly special and truly highlighted their level of musicianship. They seemed to really enjoy playing the new songs and this was the first time many of us have seen the newest incarnation of the band, with Carlos D departing and Dave Pajo (Slint, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Brandon Curtis (Secret Machines) joining the fold on bass and keyboards, respectively.

Alongside new standouts like “Barricade” and the epic “Lights,” they threw in a couple old favorites like “NYC” and “Evil,” with the devoted fans up front singing every word along with them.

Here’s the full set list and check out the photos below:
