New Yorker Cartoonist Bruce Eric Kaplan (BEK) is Our Guest DJ

Written by

BruceEricKaplanNew Yorker cartoonist Bruce Eric Kaplan, also know as BEK, explores his childhood psyche, his aspirations and the creative process through five songs from the ‘70s in his Guest DJ Project set. His dark humor and unique insight into relationships served him well as a writer for “Seinfeld” and “Six Feet Under,” as well as in his distinctive single-panel cartoons, and he shares it all here.

Of all the Guest DJ sessions I’ve produced, Bruce’s song picks have gotten stuck in my head the most! Even better, this set is as insightful as it is funny– a good dose of both.

While there is a transcript available, I highly recommend listening to this one to get the full impact of his appreciation for the “Theme from Mahogany” – its hilarious and surprisingly deep!

Bruce Eric Kaplan recently put together his first children’s picture book, “Monsters Eat Whiny Children,” which will be in stores August 31.
