From DJ Anne Litt:

UK band The Boxer Rebellion stopped by to record a live session for KCRW right in the middle of the fund drive, so we recorded it at The Village since our studios were full of phone volunteers!

We had such a good time and the guys are great.  What I think is the coolest thing about the live session is that they did it acoustically – something they rarely do.  It gave an intimate treatment to some epic songs from their catalog that really made me listen to them in a different way – all stripped down to their bare essentials.

The Boxer Rebellion also debuted a new song, “If You Run,” written specifically for the new Drew Barrymore film “Going The Distance.” The band play themselves in the movie and have only played the song on camera — and never acoustically.

Needless to say, it was a blast to witness that and I’m so excited to share it with you on Saturday, at 3pm. It will be up in the archives later here .

One part of our conversation that didn’t make the on-air interview was about their side project, Good Times, a wildly inappropriate wedding and Bar Mitzvah band.  I tried to get them to play a Good Times song, but alas, we will have to wait until the next Bar Mitzvah we attend…
