Stars Set is a Tribute to 10 Years on KCRW!

Written by

Throughout their set today, Stars dedicated various songs to KCRW, the first radio station in the world to play the band! This morning’s set pretty much marked their 10-year anniversary of appearing on the station and they revisited past favorites – like the first song we played by them, “My Radio,” and the classic “Ageless Beauty” — as well as gems off their new album, including “Fixed” and “I Died So I Could Haunt You.” Vocalists Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan weave their voices together so well it’s stunning. Eloquent indie pop just begins to describe their music…

Amy Millan said the new album “The Five Ghosts” is “our story, the story of Stars.” She says it has more heart and is her favorite record the band has done. They are playing smaller venues on this tour – including  shows at the Troubadour – so they can introduce the new record to fans who really love the band. They announced a Fall tour is forthcoming and the dates are below. Hear/watch the full set here

As always, you can hear elements of The Smiths in their music and I must make mention of one of my all-time favorite covers – Stars’ version of  “This Charming Man.” Check it out!
