Jason Bentley’s Top 5 LA Albums of 2010

Posted December 29, 2010 by | 0 Comments | 4,113 views]

Yes, I know there is a lot of list-o-mania out there right now (Phoenix pun, pretty bad) but I wanted to add one more to the pile. Earlier this month, NPR Music asked Jason Bentley to share his Top 5 LA Albums of the Year.
I think everyone agrees it was an INCREDIBLE year for music in SoCal. KCRW plays music from all over the …

Posted December 28, 2010 by | 2 Comments | 4,291 views]

Former KCRW Music Director and current KCRW DJ Nic Harcourt thought he could get away with not making a top 10 list this year. In his defense, he’s always told me how much he hates doing it. However, LOTS of people starting asking him, including a bunch of folks who wrote in on the comments portion of KCRW’s Top 10 page. So, he finally …

David Gray Live on KCRW

Posted December 22, 2010 by | 0 Comments | 3,232 views]

From KCRW DJ Anne Litt:

For me it’s always a good night when I get to see David Gray perform.  I have to hand it to former KCRW DJ Tricia Halloran for turning me on to him so many years ago.
Seeing him perform at Apogee’s Berkeley Street Sessions earlier this month (a session which is now up in our archives) really set me straight.  …

Lena Dunham is Our Guest DJ

Posted December 22, 2010 by | 1 Comment | 4,177 views]

I had been hearing rumblings about this young filmmaker Lena Dunham since March, when the film she wrote, directed and starred in was the toast of the SXSW Film Festival.
When I finally got around to watching “Tiny Furniture,” I understood why. It was fresh. And it was real. And it spoke to me in a way few movies do. So many people struggle with …

RR’s Top 10 Live MBE Performances of 2010

Posted December 22, 2010 by | 2 Comments | 4,414 views]

OK, I’ll admit it, I cheated. Naming my favorite live performances of the year on Morning Becomes Eclectic was far too hard so I purposefully disqualified three of the bands who also made my Top 10 Albums of the Year list — Best Coast, Black Keys and Band of Horses. They were all awesome, of course, but I wanted to highlight some of my …
