Pan Caliente: Lao Ra – “Patrona” (Track Premiere)

Written by

Colombia is on fire right now! We didn’t do so hot in the World Cup, but musically… the Cafeteros have you covered! Be it Bomba Estéreo touring the world with Arcade Fire, Kali Uchis performing at Fuji Rock in Japan, or Gabriel Garzón-Montano impacting the general market with his adonis vibes… Colombia is in the house.

Today we have the exclusive premiere of  Lao Ra‘s latest single, “Patrona.”  Take a listen

Patrona is the ultimate female boss. It is a song about being Latin, female and powerful. It’s about owning the past and turning it into something that makes you feel proud.” – Lao Ra

Lao Ra was raised in Bogota, Colombia, moved to the UK at 18, and is now currently based in Los Angeles, where she is indeed making a play for the big stage as the “Patrona” (Boss lady).  And being signed to the renowned British electronic label Black Butter Records, known for launching artists like Jessie Ware and Rudimental, is surely a great start.

Her music is a self described as “pineapple pop,” because blends all her musical heritage and combines it with her ability to craft catchy AF pop music, much like a Piña Colada drink would. The end result: purely delicious sounds.

In an unrelated matter, we have 2 pairs of tickets for La Tocada this weekend in LA. E-mail me HERE for your chance to win.
