Monday, June 11 White Denim “Magazin”
Ten years and seven LP’s in, White Denim are reminded of their mission statement back in 2008, “to make interesting new rock & roll music.” Recorded in their new Austin studio, inspired by ’50’s rock and production styles of the 80’s, White Denim roll out “Magazin.” A jam-worthy number from their late-summer release Performance.
Tuesday, June 12 Boy Pablo “Losing You”
Boy Pablo is currently working on his new EP and finishing school. The 19-year-old songwriter and producer writes bedroom pop songs through the lens of teenage life. Check out the dark tale that lies beneath “Losing You.”
Wednesday, June 13 Kodacrome “Slender”
Elissa LeCoque and Ryan Casey make up Kodacrome, infusing fragmented pop with a warm electronic pulse. Elissa plays piano, seeding most of the melodies and progressions, while Ryan re-imagines the work in his laboratory of analog equipment. “Slender” recalls the slinky sound of artists like Portishead or Blonde Redhead.
Thursday, June 14 Tunng “ABOP”
Tunng’s upcoming album (dropping in August) finds the group in its original line up. Crafting songs that bring out the best in all of its members, we’ll experience the most electronic-leaning collection of songs to date. “ABOP” brings the moog out front and center.
Friday, June 15 Bahamas Live On MBE “No Wrong”
Today, we launch a new Friday feature on Today’s Top Tune. Each week we’ll share an exclusive version of a song from a recently recorded Morning Becomes Eclectic session featuring some of our favorite artists. The artists will shed a little insight into the song with an introduction, alongside a free download. We launch with singer songwriter Afie Jurvanen best known as Bahamas, as he tells us about “No Wrong.”
