Here’s what’s in store this week for your downloading pleasure! Grab a song from Cut Worms who are on a massive US tour with several stops in California including a stint at The Teragram in June and Desert Daze in October. Blues men Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite band together while Flasher offers you a glimpse into Washington D.C.’s underground music scene. Yo La Tengo deliver their 15th album, and Jim James protege Cornelia Murr melts our hearts.

Monday, May 28 Cut Worms “Cash For Gold”

Recalling the early work of The Beatles amongst other British Invasion alums, mid-western born and New York-based Max Clarke aka Cut Worms sounds like a lost treasure from the 60’s. Clarke handled most of the instrumentation on his debut LP. This is well exemplified on “Cash For Gold,” where he plays guitar, keyboards, bass, and lap steel alongside producer Jonathan Rado of Foxygen.

Tuesday, May 29 Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite “Found The One”

Multiplatinum selling artists Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite picked up the “Best Blues Album” Grammy-Award for their 2013 debut. A new recording has just landed that recounts their personal stories and adds to the sonic blues lexicon. “Found The One” hints at their personal and musical lives. If the essence of the blues is ‘speaking the truth’ these 2 have met their match.

Wednesday, May 30 Flasher “Pressure”

Bass-guitar-drum trio Flasher are part of a politically-charged underground scene in our country’s capitol, Washington D.C. As they put the final touches on their debut album dropping in June they deliver “Pressure,” a post-punk anthem raging against global injustice.

Thursday, May 31 Yo La Tengo “Shades of Blue”

For their 15th album, Yo La Tengo took to their rehearsal studio without an engineer. Despite the location, no rehearsal was done. They instead decided to turn on the tape and let the songs come together on their own in slow motion. We feel that organic quality throughout the gentle yet deep pull of “Shades of Blue.”

Friday, June 1 Cornelia Murr “Man On My Mind”

The bucolic setting of the Hudson Valley in upper New York State is spiritually perfect for Cornelia Murr’s debut recording produced by My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James. Murr has always kept her songs close, protecting them even from roommates and lovers. Now she’s ready to share them with the world. Enjoy “Man On My Mind.”
