Sad news in the music world as we received word that Afghan Whigs/Gutter Twins/Twilight Singers guitarist Dave Rosser had lost his battle with cancer.
Late last year, the band had announced his diagnosis and a few benefit shows to raise money and they posted this on their FB page yesterday:
Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.
A friend of Greg Dulli told me, you would find Dave Rosser “pretty much wherever Dulli lay his black hat, and Mark Lanegan, too.”
We had the great pleasure of hosting Dave in studio for the Afghan Whigs two live sessions here, which were both spectacular — a reunion set in 2012 after their nearly decade-long hiatus and behind one of the two Afghan Whigs studio albums Rosser’s work was featured on, “Do the Beast“. (The other being “In Spades”, out in May).
Both are worth revisiting.
