The Week Ahead: Today’s Top Tune 5.22 – 5.26.17

This week Today’s Top Tune revolves around a handful of artists that we really love! First off, Oumou Sangare is back after an eight year break. Cuban-Canadian singer Alex Cuba reaches back to the sound of old Havana, adding a modern twist. Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros releases a solo song and we’re excited about two newish artists: NYC singer Amber Mark​ and Bay Area-based Big Wild.

​After an eight year break from recording, one of the greatest living voices in African music returns with a rich new album. Malian artist Oumou Sangare ​titles her latest collection Mogoya, meaning ‘people today,’ which draws heavily on the rich traditions and native instruments of her ancestors.
