Björk Interview On Morning Becomes Eclectic

Written by

KCRW recently had the tremendous opportunity to talk with Björk for Morning Becomes Eclectic. Beyond anything else, our interview with the Icelandic artist highlighted how much she has accomplished over the years — and gives us an idea of what’s to come.

First off, the big news: she’s working on new music!

There is no projected time/date for release at the moment, but she says she is always writing slowly on the side of all her other exploits. Here in LA, that includes the Björk Digital exhibit, which lands in LA starting May 19, and her upcoming shows in town — at the Walt Disney Concert Hall (sold out!) and FYF Fest.

She’s co-headlining FYF Fest with Missy Elliot and made a point to mention how much she loves her — and that one version of Missy’s “Hit ‘Em wit da Hee” off her her debut includes a sample of the Björk song “Jóga”.

Who knows if this mutual appreciation will lead to some onstage collaboration, but one can hope!

Björk also talks about how the admiration of younger female musicians has helped her appreciate her own work in her new life. Including a just announced Song Book, which you can purchase early exclusively at the digital exhibit. She tells Jason Bentley about why she’s waited so long to create sheet music for her work. Read more about the origin of the Song Book on a Facebook post from Björk here.

Fans of Björk will love this one-on-one with the artist about all her current creative enterprises and those who have been admirers from afar will surely develop a deeper appreciation for the artist.
