It’s always incredible to see some of our favorite artists get nods from the Grammys and this year was no different.

Check out our video playlist featuring the nominees performing for KCRW:

The artist we here at KCRW dubbed OUR Best New Artist of the year, Anderson .Paak, was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy. Also, his album “Malibu” is up for Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Sturgill Simpson, who played his tremendous A Sailor’s Guide to Earth” live for the first time as part of KCRW’s Apogee Studio series, is up for Album of the Year AND Best Country Album. The Avett Brothers, who took the same stage this year, got a nod for their song “Ain’t No Man” (Best American Roots) and best Americana Album for “True Sadness.”

Speaking of special sessions, we recorded a live session with Iggy Pop earlier this year and his “Post Pop Depression“, written and recorded with Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, is up for Best Alternative Music Album, alongside Bon Iver.

(If you haven’t read DJ Dan Wilcox’s journey to Eau Claire to hear the Bon Iver album for the first time, it’s a must read. )

Dynamic, young, quirky pop duo Sofi Tukker and Vancouver production pair Bob Moses are nominated in the Best Dance Recording category, while Tycho and Underworld are up for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Leon Bridges and Jamie xx were acknowledged for Best Music Video for “River” and “Gosh”, respectively.

Longtime KCRW faves Cage the Elephant are up for Best Rock Album. We also have to give a shout out to Steve Aoki, whose documentary “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” is up for Best Music Film.
