Stewart Lindsey – “Another Lie” Video Premiere

Written by

Dave Stewart has had a long career in the music biz, filled with curious twists & turns.  Best known as the sunglass-wearing, guitar-playing half of Eurythmics, he has also participated in numerous remarkable projects over the years as a front man, songwriter, soundtrack composer and producer (not to mention as a member of a fictitious band).  His latest project is, for the first time since being in Eurythmics, as one half of a duo, Stewart Lindsey, whose debut album, Spitballin’, is due out this June.

The collaboration between Stewart and young singer Thomas Lindsey came about thanks to the kind of serendipity that only social media can manufacture – essentially a tweet of a YouTube clip of Lindsey singing.  Stewart was so impressed when he saw it that he invited the Louisiana-native to fly out to LA (which happened to be Lindsey’s first time on a plane) to join him on stage for a show at the Troubadour.  And further magic ensued.  Finally, after trading files between LA & rural Louisiana (in fact, they never actually recorded together in the same room!), they have a unique album to share with the world.

Gary Calamar premiered the duo’s debut single, “Another Lie,” during his show this past Sunday night (you can revisit his most recent show on his show page on the KCRW website, of course always worth the listen).  And now we’re pleased to premiere the video for the track right here:

The foot-stompin’ track certainly fits the bluesier side of Stewart’s work, and while he has regularly worked with some other-worldly voices in the past – from his longtime Eurythmic partner Annie Lennox, to former Undertones singer Feargal Sharkey, to the force of nature that is Stevie Nicks – Thomas Lindsey is clearly a distinctive new talent on the scene.  In the video, set in a mysterious derelict house in the hills, Lindsey lurks above while a 13-year-old actress Indya Love “sings” the song & Stewart lays down some choice guitar licks in the shadows.  All in all, it’s an evocative beginning for the new project, both sonically & visually, and clearly the mark of good things to come.
