Stephen – “Sincerely”

Written by

The 24-year-old artist known as Stephen has made quite a journey, from his dorm room at the University of Miami’s prestigious Frost School of Music to the west coast shores of Los Angeles.  His debut album, Sincerely, Stephen, surely documents this transition, and we’ll all be able to examine it when the album is released on Halfway House Records on April 26.

In the meantime, we have a first taste from the record with a track called, simply, “Sincerely.”  The multi-instrumentalist builds the song from the quiet opening chords of a piano, adding disorienting electronic flashes and his own emotionally resonate vocals, before the music explodes into an ominous throb, culminating with a bluesy wail from his guitar.  It is a unique musical trip, indicative of a young artist with something to say.

Stephen is heading eastward for a series of concerts with Eryn Allen Kane over the next couple of weeks, so our east coast fans can get a taste of what he’s all about.
