Video Premiere: Jet Trash – “What They Want”

The year is winding down, and new music is scarce. But we’ve got a last video premiere to share for 2015, and it’s a good one! Marion Hodges wrote about the California band Jet Trash earlier this year, and now we’ve got another track from their debut EP available for your perusal in video form.

JET TRASH – “WHAT THEY WANT” (from the EP Jet Trash, available now, digitally & on cassette from Burger Records imprint Wiener Records)

Here’s a quote on the song and video from Jet Trash bassist/co-lead vocalist Marshall Fassino:

“What They Want” is one of the first songs we wrote together. It’s mostly about being young and reckless and finding your own way in life regardless of what’s expected of you. We think the song is maybe the best marriage of lo-fi garage rock and 1960s surf music that we were striving for across the six songs on our debut EP. It’s also a clear audience favorite that seems to get people pretty excited when we play it live.

The video is from a show we did at Brick and Mortar Music Hall in San Francisco recently that featured this collective called the Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show. They projected all these awesome psychedelic colors and visuals behind the bands that night. We knew it was going to make for some killer footage, so we had our friends Marshall Rogalski and Jesse Scarborough film the whole thing and put together a cool D.I.Y. music video when it was all finished. On stage is really where we excel as a band, and this clip hopefully helps people get a little taste of that.
