Song Premiere: Joon Moon – “Chess” (Strangelove remix)

Written by

The rain in Spain may fall mostly on the plains, but Joon Moon is what really excites people around these parts. This Parisian duo features Julien Decoret, a producer with connections to the Nouvelle Vague camp, and Krystle Warren, a smoky-voiced singer from Kansas City, and together they have enchanted listeners with their debut ep, the Chess EP. All four tracks (including the Opium Factory remix of the title cut) command attention, with a sexy, mysterious ambience and insinuating hooks.

A new remix is hitting the blogosphere, and we are happy to introduce it. Belgian newcomer Strangelove offers up his remix of “Chess,” accentuating the natural percussive rhythms of the song with a dancefloor-ready beat, giving particular showcase to the haunting horn sounds lingering in the background of the original, and adding some percolating keyboard riffs for good measure. It’s all part of the package for Joon Moon, a wonderful new collaboration sure to provide exciting listening in both the present and the future.

Joon Moon’s next EP, Call Me, should be available late March 2016.
