KCRW Presents: From jazz to classic house: Kamasi Washington and A Night at the Paradise Garage

Written by

Think of this as an end-of-the-year-blowout post. There are only two shows left on our 2015 Presents calendar (minus 2 NYE parties, the details of which I’ll post later) so here it goes:

Tonight, Thursday, December 10, is Kamasi Washington’s night. The uber-talented saxophonist hails from South Central LA, and released a highly praised 3-disc album earlier this year on Brainfeeder.

Here’s a 14-minute jazz odyssey to give you an idea of what to expect at Club Nokia tonight:

Plus, before you’re on holiday lock-down with family, gifts and the buffet table, you’ll want to hit up the Palladium for A Night at Paradise Garage featuring DJs Joey Llanos, David Depino and Kenny Summit on Saturday, December 19. They’ll take you on a disco and classic house music stroll so you can party like it’s 1977 (just like they did at Larry Levan’s weekly parties in NYC).
