A year ago this coming October, writer Pamela Chelin called me about a piece she was doing for the LA Weekly. She knew I was excited about this new artist by the name of Dorothy. Dorothy was getting regular airplay on my radio show, and had appeared at School Night, my weekly new artist showcase. “She’s such a badass….like a revved up Adele teetering on the brink of chaos,” I told Chelin. Shortly after, I was curating Grand Park LA’s New Year’s Eve concert and we were fortunate enough to have Dorothy perform there as well. It was a stellar set, and at the time I was sure she’d be a household name in short order.
Although not yet a superstar, progress for the band has been slow and steady. She’s currently on tour opening dates for Miguel, and you might have heard their song “Wicked Ones” featured in a Gatorade ad that’s currently in high rotation on prime time television.
Now we’re pleased to present the worldwide debut of their latest track “Raise Hell“.
Trust me when I say you need to see this girl perform. Her voice is ridiculous and with an intense live presence, she’s a pleasure to watch.
