In 2013, London producer Marcus Marr released a phenomenal jammer called, “The Music”.
That single was a juggernaut and made Spin Magazine’s year end list of “The 40 Best Dance Tracks of 2013”, sitting comfortably at #3 just behind Daft Punk and Todd Terje.
No small feat, especially for a debut single from a new artist.
Now, in advance of a full length debut album later this year on DFA, Marr has released a rad new single cheekily called “Brown Sauce“.
Named after the ubiquitous UK condiment which sits on every table like ketchup in the US or Tapatio, Brown Sauce is a tangy, bitter weird thing that one could put on virtually anything.
“Brown Sauce” (the track) fittingly toys with that notion of versatility.
Wavy ambient atmospherics and acid lines float over a hard disco kick for a solid 6 minute dancefloor workout, additionally, the B-side “Peacemakers” is no slouch.
It’s a strong start to 2015 for Marr and if he has his way, “Brown Sauce” will be all over everything come suppertime …ahem- summertime.
