The Lush Sonic Dreamscape of “The Pink Collection”

Written by

For over a decade, Ghent-based Eskimo Recordings has been responsible for a grip of excellent releases by Aeroplane, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas and more, but where they really excel (and where/when they got my undivided attention) is in the compilation game.

Based on the couple of volumes of Cosmic Balearic Beats and the absolutely inscrutable and totally necessary Cosmic Disco?! Cosmic Rock!!! (compiled by the one and only Daniele Baldelli & Dionigi,) Eskimo will forever have my loyalty.

And now forever just got further with “The Pink Collection”, the first in a series of color-based concept comps that feature new work from tried and true artists Kasper Bjørke, Ichisan and Martin Brodin and absolutely stunning new future classics from up and comers Satin Jackets and Brynjolfur.*

Satin Jackets – Olivia by Eskimo Recordings

Lush, pleasant and as warm as James Turrell’s installations based on the light you see from behind closed eyelids, this is music you listen to with eyes closed…

The Pink Collection is a sonic dreamscape, a shower of kisses from windswept cherry blossom petals on the forest floor of a garden on the face of a tiny planetoid moving through nebulae rushing full speed towards the sun.

I wait with baited breath for the next blissed-out color, but in the interim will continue to lose myself in “Olivia.

(*Come back next week for exciting Brynjolfur news…)
