London Grammer – “Strong”

File this under songs I’ve been listening to on repeat. I’ve been hearing buzz on this band for months, but it wasn’t until this particular song that they really caught my attention. The trio’s debut album will be out next week and they play the Troubadour on September 25.

Of Montreal – “Fugitive Air”

Athens-based Of Montreal have never been easy to pin down – most of my favorite songs of theirs are unlike any OTHER songs of theirs. You really never know what you’re going to get when you hear new music is on the way.

“Art rock” is the term thrown around the most, but they have an undeniable pop sensibility and their latest single even has a country-ish tinge with some slide guitars.

Emiliana Torrini – “Speed of Dark”

Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini’sSpeed of Dark” is an electro-pop gem that has the charming, sweet singer claiming “I want it dangerous”. I like this side of her! It’s the first single from her forthcoming album,”Tookah”.

Generationals – “Put a Light On”

There’s so much music released each year that some albums undeservedly get lost in the shuffle. Generational’s April release “Heza” is their best album since their debut “Con Law” in 2009. The New Orleans duo keep making expertly crafted song pop songs with just the right amount of quirk and danceability.
