New Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros: “Better Days”

Written by

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros may seem like a laidback group of musical adventurers, but they are actually quite ambitious.

They decided to follow up their highly successful debut with not one but TWO new full length albums. Their recording sessions were so fruitful, they decided they had enough material for two releases within a year of each other. Here is our first taste of their forthcoming self-titled album, called “Better Days”.

I was given the chance to hear some demos and unmastered tracks a few months back and the songs were noticeably more rockin’ and reminded me a lot of some of The Beatles more experimental work. I’m not sure what actually ended up on the album, but I’m definitely looking forward to it.

The album will be out on July 23 and, after months of touring the world, they’ll make their triumphant return to LA for a show at the Hollywood Bowl on August 4 as part of KCRW’s World Festival. Pick up your tickets now. It’s going to be a party!

Here’s one of my favorites from our last live session with the band.
