Designer Jonathan Adler is Our Guest DJ

Written by

Jonathan Adler store, bright colors catching my eye. The designer’s manifesto is “minimalism is a bummer” and his Guest DJ set was just as lively as his work.

Adler got his start as a potter, working seven days a week in his studio listening to music. For the Guest DJ Project, tells us how Grace Jones’ music and appearance reflected his “burgeoning sensibility” as a teen, Public Enemy was the soundtrack to a “creative spurt” during college and how the Carrie Nations “perfectly capture the idea of camp”.

In fact, his breakdown of “camp” is one of my favorite parts of this set, as well as his philosophy on how the creative process works –relating a Lenny Kravitz song to his most successful lamp.
