Summer is here again, knocking on our door, urging us to come out and play. What a pleasure it is to oblige in a place like Southern California. How fortunate an advantage that KCRW tends to its roots in such a magical place. And how fortunate for me to participate, invite family and friends, and enjoy music and fellowship under the stars as KCRW’s World Festival continues at the iconic Hollywood Bowl.
Expect blues heavy Ben Harper to raise spirits with his signature style of robust vocals, evocative melodies, and rugged rhythms. LA-based 60’s soul-pop throw backs Fitz and The Tantrums will make it difficult to sit still when they hit the stage with their uncompromising energy and classic Motown swagger. Son of the late Saharan blues master Ali Farka Toure, Vieux Farka Toure returns to mesmerize the crowd with the flowing electricity of his amplified African blues chords.
Yo Summer, I’ll be out in a second, gotta grab some french bread and a bottle of red!
