Jagwar Ma: Artist You Should Know

Written by

On a rainy morning in LA, there are only two ways to do a radio show. Dig in to some gorgeously gloomy classics or spike up the energy with some feel-good tracks.  Jason Bentley is going for the latter this morning and dropped a song that grabbed my attention instantly:

Come Save Me by Jagwar Ma

Catchy, Beatles-y, electro pop that is pretty irresistible from a band with a name that is a lot less mainstream: Jagwar Ma

The band claims, via Facebook, to be from Antarctica and their Soundcloud page credits Gabriel Winterfield, Ewan Pearson and Stella Mozgawa as the players. Among their list of influences: Aphex Twin, J Dilla, Bo Diddley, Andy Weatherall, and George Martin.

A 7” single with “Come Save Me”, and a B-side called “What Love?” will be out February 27 and is the first release from a new label called The Blue Rider.

What Love? by Jagwar Ma

Not much else is known about the band at this time so I suggest riding the good vibes!
