As local heroes go, SFV Acid (neé Zane Reynolds) is, in my humble opinion, one of the most exciting artists making music in LA right now.
Trafficking in a lo-fi deep acid house sound that would be perfectly at home on a Rephlex Records compilation, SFV Acid simultaneously embodies a uniquely 21st century LA punker than punk aesthetic.
It was may great pleasure to start 2012 with him in studio for a Guest DJ set (which you can catch in the archives here) and he’s offered us an unreleased track called “Illegal Rave at Pierce” for your listening pleasure.

Despite being an “electronic body music” artist, he’s performed numerous shows at The Smell and played on bills alongside other local favorites of a punkier kind Bleached, Abe Vigoda, & No Age.
Cut from the same sheet of blotter acid as Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and The Samps, Zane has a blissfully tripped out vibe, but his sound actually splits the difference between the electro-funk vibes of local artists like Dam-Funk and Nite Jewel filtered through Richard D. James’ 303.
When I first met him, he was DJing a night at the legendary Dinner House M (which sadly closed last year) called Grown. He currently has a show on Dublab called, “2Daddies Radio” (with Suzanne Kraft) and released his first non self-released EP “New West Coast” on LA’s PPM label earlier this year. He’s remixed local house collaboration B.C. x Delivery and NY’s Blondes.
This coming month he’ll have a new 12″ on the 100% Silk label and a second release on PPM later this year.
