Natural History Museum’s First Fridays 2012 series, presented by KCRW.

This is the 8th season of the after hours series, where the museum doors are open until 10pm and packed with music lovers eager to see some of today’s best up and coming buzz bands. The event is all ages and tickets can be purchased in advance here. (details below)

KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez will be the resident DJ for each of the six shows, with one additional KCRW DJ joining him each night. KCRW’s newest DJ, Travis Holcombe, will be at the first show on January 6.

East Los Angeles trio El- Haru Kuroi will kick off the music performance portion of the evening, before a headlining set from Mariachi El Bronx, the alter ego of punk band the Bronx. Their sound is a chaotic, exotic culture clash inspired equally by Black Flag and Los Lobos.

Of course, it’s not all about the music. The festivities begin at 5:30 pm, with curatorial tours and a discussion. The theme for First Fridays 2012 is “This Time It’s Personal”.
