The National Live on KCRW – Bloodbuzz Ohio

Written by

A handful of years ago, The National were on a tour with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah that came through the Troubadour in LA. I was among the many in the crowd that night that were there desperate to see CYH, who were a huge buzz band of the moment.

I am still kicking myself for not paying attention to The National’s set and – gasp – hanging out at the bar instead. In all fairness, even though I was in the building, I can’t claim to have been an early supporter for the band that has broken out in a HUGE way recently, particularly with their last two full length releases. They are must-owns for any serious indie music fan.

Last year’s release “High Violet” was a station favorite and the song “Bloodbuzz Ohio” makes tears form in my eyes just because it’s so darn good I can’t stand it!

There’s something special about this band’s ability create an emotional connection, something you can hear in the set they performed for us on Morning Becomes Eclectic. Find it in our archives here
