Adele Live on KCRW

Written by

Not only was everyone buzzing all week about Adele stopping by KCRW for Morning Becomes Eclectic but, since she played this morning, I’ve gotten tons of  emails, texts, etc… about how great she sounded. AND a ticket giveaway to see her tonight clogged up KCRW’s phone system! I don’t know if that has ever happened before. It’s a bit of an understatement to say there is a LOT of excitement for this artist.

The UK songstress made her third appearance on the show this morning to support her new release “21” and thanked us for supporting her early on. She excitedly dedicated her first song, the title track off her debut “Hometown Glory”, to her mom and even played a song she debuted at the Hollywood Bowl in 2009 called “Take it All”.

I most enjoyed hearing new songs — the gorgeous and simple “Someone Like You” and the killer first single “Rolling in the Deep”. She tells us Rolling was almost a ballad until producer Paul Epworth convinced her to turn lyrics about a painful break up into a “boisterous, girl is back, kind of tune.”

We didn’t have time to air her cover of The Cure’s “Lovesong” but it’s part of the archived version so definitely check it out, even if you tuned in this morning.
