Grandchildren’s full length album “Everlasting” came out at the end of last month and the band is making their way to LA for a show at the Troubadour tonight, Tuesday, October 26. The band has been gaining attention for their orchestral-pop and here is what DJ Anne Litt has to saw:
“What instantly appealed to me about Grandchildren was their sweet, chaotic energy. I also love albums that are full listens and this has been a favorite front to back listen of late.”
Frontman Aleks Martray says the band started as a solo project while he was attending the Maryland Institute College of Art. There he met, and became housemates with, Russell Brodie and Roman Salcic. They took over a Victorian house in West Philly, which became a perfect incubator for music making. Other musicians living in the house — Tris Palazzolo, Adam Katz, and John Vogel – soon joined in on the fun and the band was formed.
One of my favorite things I’ve read about Aleks: Spinner.com asked him “Beatles or Stones.” His answer? Bowie.
Think about that while listening to this – their single, “Saturn Returns”
