Get ready for KCRW to take over another part of town with free music and more as part of our Summer Nights series. DJ Anthony Valadez is one of many DJs that will be a part of the festivities:

“Chinatown has a great youthful energy with venues such as The Far Bar and The Grandstar, that have hosted some amazing nights.  Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to play alongside Mixmaster Mike (Beastie Boys) and the legendary Kool Herc!

Friends of mine from The Soul Sessions and The Floc Shop ( a cool hip boutique in Chinatown) are largely responsible for bringing a lot of great talent and festivals to the popular square where, by day, elders practice Tai Chi, tourists flock and snap pics. At night, Chinatown becomes a hip collage of faces and various energies.

DJ Raul Campos kicks things of on Saturday August 7 and I’ll be spinning on Saturday, August 14. See you there!”
