It’s safe to say that KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez launched the U.S. career of Swedish electronic soul band Quadron. The duo — 21-year singer Coco and producer Hannibal – were all over KCRW’s playlists before they even had a U.S. release thanks to Anthony’s support, and eventually were signed to local indie heavyweight label Plug Research (home to Flying Lotus among others) after the label head heard them on the station.
The duo will make their first radio appearance in the U.S. when they join Anthony tonight at 1am (technically Tuesday morning) for a Guest DJ set that will be archived here if you don’t plan on staying up late. They’ll share some musical gems they’ve compiled exclusively for KCRW.
Quadron formed with the goal of giving the soul scene a boost and providing a new R&B alternative. As someone who loves the band, I can’t wait to hear the earlier artists who inspired their work.
