Exene Cerevenka (X) on MBE

Written by

L.A. punk rocker and founding member of X Exene Cervenka performed songs from her latest solo project on Morning Becomes Eclectic this morning. She has one of the most recognizable voices in music and is a fantastic visual artist as well.  Exene tells Jason that the two art forms balance her out creatively. As she says, “the songwriting will tear you up, but the art is like a relief.”

She also mentioned how much she has been enjoying playing recent shows with X – “I love every second of X and I value it highly” – and how she can appreciate the songs and the music more now than 25 years ago when things were “crazy.”  Exene also gave a bit of a tribute to fiddler and songwriter Amy Farris, who passed away recently. Amy played and sang on the new record, “Somewhere Gone.” Below is video of them performing the title track.
