While the UK has already figured out what a gem Daniel Merriweather is (he debuted at #2 on their album charts), America is just now catching up. There’s no doubt that everyone who attended KCRW’s showcase at the Paley Center for Media on Saturday are believers now. Merriweather has a stunning voice and a stage presence that is undeniable (as well as an incredible backing band). Influenced equal parts by Stevie Wonder and Jeff Buckley, Daniel says he grew up in the “forest” and is still pinching himself at the opportunities coming his way. He had the whole crowd singing along to his mash up of The Smiths “Stop Me” with The Supremes “You Keep Me Hanging On” (as featured on Mark Ronson’s “Version”) and even covered Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

Speaking of Macca, Jason Bentley had the pleasure of DJing the CAA’s after-party for the Golden Globes and the Beatle was dancing front and center! Apparently, he was digging the Z-Trip remix of The Jackson Five “I Want You Back.”
