KCRW’s newest program, “The Document,” looks at the world through the lens of documentary film. And to partner with this amazing new program, KCRW’s screening series will now feature the best of classic, cult and soon-to-be-released docs. Our inaugural film is the perfect kickoff!

Cameraperson” is the mesmerizing, Oscar short-listed memoir of Kirsten Johnson’s 25 years shooting documentaries in every corner of the globe. She was behind the lens for some of the most important and compelling documentaries of our time (Ted Braun’s “Darfur Now,” Laura Poitras’ “CitizenFour” and Kirby Dick’s “The Invisible War” amongst others). And she’s pulled moments from the raw footage of those films to create a moving, life-affirming experience that investigates the power of the camera.

We’ll screen this remarkable film for KCRW Advocates on Thursday, May 25th followed by a Q&A with Kirsten and Oscar-winning documentarian Kirby Dick.

And then – we’ll party with luminaries from the documentary world and enjoy food trucks, complimentary drinks and music with KCRW DJ Anne Litt! Don’t miss this special event!
