Part of The Un-Private Collection
Wednesday, August 16, 2017 | 7:30 p.m.
The Orpheum Theatre
842 S. Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90014
The Broad presents the latest conversation in the Un-Private Collection series with Los Angeles-based artists Sharon Lockhart and Mark Bradford, both featured in this year’s Venice Biennale, who come together at downtown’s Orpheum Theatre to discuss their creative practices and focus on social justice through work with communities. Lockhart explores the human subjects of her artwork through workshops, film and photographs, and Bradford through the found materiality of his painting and activism. Through their respective practices, both seek to enrich the communities they engage in their processes. Curator, critic and art historian Katy Siegel will explore their work at the American and Polish pavilions in the Biennale, and their related social activism projects.
