On your mark, get set, GO!

UltraRunners are highly efficient group split into separate teams set on winning the competition. But, as serious as they are about winning, the team still shows their playful side. In every single one of their pictures they are smiling and loving life – which is crazy because they went above and beyond our wildest expectations of a team to complete a staggering 199 hints out of a possible 210. We didn’t even think this was possible. And I guess that’s why they’re winners.

Pajama Party

1The main team started right as the hunt began in the early hours of Saturday morning prowling North East LA clues in anime cat and leopard costumes or possibly pajamas. They found the Chicken Boy, the Time Travel Mart, and Vin Scully Ave in North East LA and knocked out a handful of clues while everyone else was sleeping. Sleep was not an option for team UltraRunners.

Things will be great when you’re downtown

Trading their costumes for sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats in the daylight, half of the team hunted through Hollywood and Downtown hitting up the Pacific Design Center and other landmarks before ending the day out in the San Gabriel Valley hitting up Pasadena Museum of CA Art, Bodega Wine Bar, and plenty of other spots.  The other half went through the West Side and South Bay clues enjoying the ocean air.

Day Two: Teamwork makes the dream work!

8Day Two for UltraRunners was… ambitious. They sent members out on quite the adventure to our Inland destinations – Palm Springs, the Salton Sea, Salvation Mountain, and Slab City! It was quite hot on Sunday, with temperatures reaching 115 degrees in Palm Springs so we’re glad UltraRunners were able to enjoy Hadley’s Date Shakes and other cool treats on an insanely warm day.

While some were melting in the desert, others on the team were creating custom sodas at Galco’s and others were riding Hulu Bike Share bikes on the West Side.

And the grand prize goes to…

10UltraRunners would not go quietly into the night – they would continue on until the last few minutes of the scavenger hunt to continue scoring points across LA – racking up a staggering number of points and ultimately taking the grand prize of $5,000 to Tender Greens!
Congratulations team UltraRunners – you are human inspiration!
