Written by

Meet Brooke Saul. If you’ve been to KCRW events this year or seen the KCRW street team in action you might have already met her! She’s been an all-star at a whopping 14 events this year… wow. We’re so happy to have her on the team because she brings joy, fun, and helps us indulge our sweet tooth whenever possible.

Where did you grow up and do you have any siblings? Pets?
I grew up on the Eastside of Los Angeles in Glassel Park. I have a lively dachshund named ginger who is a close friend of mine. I only have one sibling, he is older and his name is Cameron.

What 5 things would you wish you had if you were stranded on a deserted island?
An unlimited supply of candy, my dog, a camera, a sun visor, and the complete works of the Encyclopedia Britannica. P.S. The Camera is in case I get rescued.

What is your current occupation / what do you do outside of KCRW?
I currently work at The Edison cocktail lounge slinging drinks and I have been looking to a career in the music business.

What is your fantasy occupation?
I’d love to be a member of a successful band touring the country playing huge venues to the thousands of fans. Hey – you said fantasy.

When did you first discover KCRW?
I first discovered KCRW shortly after high school through the World Festival shows at the Hollywood Bowl. My parents used to take my brother and I every year for the classical concerts. This is when I realized the Bowl had more to offer so a friend and I went and saw Crystal Method perform. Thanks KCRW!

How did you find your way to our station for volunteering?
I was taking some classes at SMC and popped my head into the station to ask how I could help.

What’s your current volunteer position and how long have you been at it?
I’ve been volunteering since the summer of 2015, helping out with marketing at the Summer Nights concerts. I’ve also worked at a few of the movie screenings, and I’ve recently started training as a studio production assistant.

Favorite volunteer moment?
Seeing Tune Yards at the Santa Monica Pier and any time I’ve worked in the DJ booth.

If you could get on the mic and say one sentence on the air, what would it be?
I’m Brooke Saul, back next week with more stories of This American Life.

Favorite thing to do outside the station?
I enjoy hiking, going to concerts, trying new restaurants and attending Dodger games.

What does KCRW mean to you?
I consider KCRW to be one of the best taste makers in Los Angeles. It feels like a community rich with culture and awesome people that I love to be around.

Brooke, thanks so much for all your help this year. You’ve made a big difference and your presence has been felt! We hope your journey here at KCRW grows and continues in the new year.
