KCRW hosted the first #KCRWmoves Pop-Up Gallery last Friday at Atwater Crossing. The first of four events celebrated music discovery through the incredible photographs taken by longtime station photographer Larry Hirshowitz.
Over 200 intimate portraits taken by Hirshowitz during live performances at KCRW were projected on walls throughout the venue, giving attendees an insider’s look at many of their favorite artists.
Prints were also on-hand for purchase and order, and free postcards were given out throughout the evening. Each postcard features the framed portrait to be raffled at each Pop-Up Gallery event; the first Adele, followed by the Black Keys, Yo-Yo Ma and Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips.
KCRW DJs Anne Litt and Travis Holocombe provided the evening’s entertainment and the perfect soundtrack for the all night dance party.
And the KCRW mobile music machine, donated by Mercedes, was on-hand to keep everyone entertained as they waited in line for the Border Grill and Coolhaus food trucks!
Be sure to check the #KCRWmoves website for details on our next Pop-Up Gallery. You won’t want to miss your chance to take home an iconic KCRW picture from our history – we’ll be raffling off the Black Keys framed portrait!
