On Saturday June 9th KCRW will be at the NoHo ArtWalk+, where over 60 visual artists will show off their work and 8 DJs will spin on 2 different stages. The event runs from 4-8pm along a stretch of Lankershim boulevard in the NoHo Arts District, just off the North Hollywood exit of both the Red and Orange lines.

With so much to see and do (oh, did we mention the dance battle and live painters?), you might feel like taking a breather to gather yourself and restore your energy. Fortunately, there are some great places just a few steps away from the action where you can do just that, and you can do it using your KCRW Fringe Benefits card, which will get you discounts at all of the places below, listed going from north to south down Lankershim.

Groundwork Coffee’s newest cafe resides in a registered state historic landmark (an old train depot built in the early 1890’s) at the terminus of the Red and Orange lines, so it’s the perfect place for a caffeine boost either before you start or after a long afternoon of walking along Lankershim. Sit and relax in the bright, open interior or on the porch outside, and sip on any of their brewed coffee, tea, and espresso for 10% off using your Fringe Benefits card.

Just across Lankershim, on the corner with Chandler, sits a branch of The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, the godfather of LA’s coffee scene. Established in 1963, the chain is best known for their ice blended drinks, but they offer a full range of drinks and pastries. Coffee Bean gives KCRW members 10% off their whole bean coffees and loose leaf teas.

The Federal Bar took over the former bank building on the corner of Lankershim and Weddington back in 2011. Featuring an extensive menu of upscale American food (which you can enjoy for a 15% discount using, yes, your Fringe Benefits card), a full bar, and TVs playing a multitude of sporting events, they’ve got you covered if you want to linger during your pit stop.  If you need something to do before the ArtWalk, The Federal has one of the best brunch deals in town: $30 for two people to get an entree each and bottomless mimosas.

Pitfire Pizza, a former “Independent Pizzeria of the Year” winner, is the perfect place to people watch as you sit around their fire pit out on the enormous patio, scarfing a personal craft pizza or an enormous salad while sipping on a cool draft beer or a glass of wine. There’s more than just pizza of course —  a bevy of Italian entrees and desserts are offered. So take a minute to yourself and if you have kids, let them run around on the front lawn while you enjoy 15% off your food.

If you’d rather make imbibing the centerpiece of your break, then head just down the road to Skinny’s Lounge and grab a cocktail, which KCRW members can enjoy for 10% less than non-KCRW members. If you wanna keep dancing after the DJs at the ArtWalk have packed in for the evening, then Skinny’s is definitely your spot: Saturdays are for old school hip hop and Latin rhythms, so get on their dance floor early (admission is free before 10pm) and make a night of it.
