First of all, know I am a fan of your selections and respect your taste! Went to the Matt's Movies screening of 'Life in a Day' at the Arclight and really enjoyed it. However, I feel like your commentary smacks a bit of post-hype backlash. One of the highlights of this film is the interplay between some very fine actors, cutting loose and really seeming to enjoy themselves with a lighter script, especially witty for a superhero popcorn flick. As for Sam Jackson's Nick Fury...he's a covert government agent who plays things pretty close to the vest, so what would you have him do? He may get the brunt of cheesy dialogue for a movie like this, but should he be running around waving his arms over his head? Screaming and crying? Honestly, this is a pretty solid ensemble cast with Downey Jr. and Ruffalo in particular turning in very enjoyable performances. And I could argue that Hulk took down Loki long enough for the good guys to snag the 'glow-stick of destiny' and use it to shut down the portal, but it would be sort of a moot point. The truth is, I have been a comic fan my entire life, so like many, I was pre-disposed to enjoy this. However, I have seen some bad comic book film adaptations and this was not one of them.
