In this Outtake, Evan talks to Stacie Hunt about Thanksgiving wines made “Texas style.” Unfortunately due to laws that date back to Prohibition we cannot get wines from Texas in California, but Stacie throws us what she calls a “Texas Curveball.” Instead of a Texas wine she recommends NV Sparkling Gewurztraminer from South Coast Winery in Temecula.

Stacie Hunt is a sommelier with Du Vin Wine and Spirits in West Hollywood and she’s a frequent guest on Good Food.  This week on the show she shared some really interesting stories, and recommendations, of Moroccan wine.  The country is the largest producer of wine in the Muslim world, producing about 34 million bottles annually.  While Muslims are forbidden from drinking wine, the market is driven mostly by foreigners.

’07 Delagrave, Dry White Blend, Bordeaux (Herzog Selection) $ 14.99
Pale yellow-gold in color; the two grapes are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, very traditional for the Entre-Deux-Mers region it comes from (located between the two rivers Garonne and Dordogne). The aroma, also typical of this region is very fruity with gravel and mineral notes.  Tastes of white stone fruits with good acidity and a crisp finish. Pairs with freshwater fish, chicken and creamy cheeses.
