Visit their ingredients of course!  Monday a group of about 40 of us trekked out the 60 fwy to Ontario to meet Dan Drake and his lovely bevy of ladies and gentlemen at Drake’s Goat Farm.  Dan currently sells to restaurants through LA Specialty.  Jen from LA Speciality organized the visit for us.
Starting in June Drake will be at the Sunday Santa Monica Market.  Currently they are in several OC Markets:  Tustin, Chino Hills, Costa Mesa, Orange, Laguna Hills, Rancho St. Margarita, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Temenula, Murrieta, Laguna Niguel.

Yesterday on Which Way LA? host Warren Olney spoke to Michael Flood on the LA Regional Food Bank and Philip Browning of the LA County Department of Social Services.
Los Angeles County has 1.7 million hungry residents, so many that food banks are struggling to keep up with the need. Because of state laws, almost half don’t know they’re eligible for food stamps the federal government pays for. We hear what the County’s doing to make some improvement.

I received 2 bits of great news this morning:
1. Jonathan Gold of the LA Weekly and a contributor to Good Food is a finalist for this year’s Pulitzer Prize in Criticism.  Jonathan won the Pulitzer back in 2007, the first restaurant critic to win.  Congratulations, Jonathan!
