This week Murray Family Farms is back with Brooks cherries, white peaches and yellow nectarines. Owner Steve Murray says his cherry crop is about 10% of normal due to water shortages and extreme heat.

Sweet Rose Creamery ice cream chef Shiho Yoshikawa was thrilled to find both cherries and papayas (more on that next week) at Wednesday’s market. She is also using spring herbs in her seasonal ice creams and sorbets at Sweet Rose Creamery.

This week on the market report Laura Avery talks to Michael Fiorelli, chef and partner at Love & Salt in Manhattan Beach. Fiorelli utilizes the whole carrot for this dish. He combines the carrot tops with herbs and preserved lemon to make a carrot top pesto that dresses his roasted carrots.
