What a great pie-dea: chocolate pecan slab pie

When Deb Perelman started her blog it was to chronicle dating and eating in New York. Now, she has a massive loyal following and has just released her second cookbook, "Smitten Kitchen Every Day."

Spring is swiftly approaching. So, here at Good Food, we’re preparing for our annual Pie Contest! Who better to lend a hand to the festivities than the woman who turned her sweet tooth into a blog called Smitten Kitchen, then turned that blog into a franchise.

When Deb Perelman started writing, blogging was an opportunity to keep an “online diary.” Her relatable style kept readers coming back for easy-to-follow recipes and anecdotes about city living. In 2012 she published her first cookbook featuring some of the blog’s most popular recipes.

Now Perelman has released her second cookbook, “Smitten Kitchen Every Day: Triumphant and Unfussy New Favorites,” and here she shares her recipe for a twist on the traditional pecan pie.
