The Farmer’s Plate comes with spring vegetables, carrot puree, fava puree, bur rata and grilled toast. (Michael Robinson Chavez / Los Angeles Times / May 20, 2013)

Jonathan Gold visits the new location of Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne’s beloved restaurant AOC. The new location, which replaced Il Covo and formerly housed Orso, has arguably the most beautiful patio in Los Angeles. He recommends the arugula, strawberry and rhubarb salad , clams cooked in the wood oven, black rice and farro salad, peas with saffron butter, “ode to Zuni” chicken and the suckling pig. He also enjoyed the by the glass wine list which is dominated by natural, organic and sustainable wines.

Ms. Goin is a perennial favorite American restauranteur and chef. While I love Lucques, Tavern and now The Larder, AOC has always been one of my faves. But with this relocation to the beloved former home of Orso, AOC has been completely rejuvenated. It is my favorite patio in town but the interior spaces are beautiful and unique. The Wine Room upstairs is already an LA favorite. The food and wine have undergone an exciting makeover and how do I say this gently? The staff are also new and improved. I'm madly in love and agree with Mr. Gold on his choice dishes. Might I also suggest the tuna meatballs, the pea pancakes and the catch of the day. But don't miss out on the wonderful assortment of platters….large and encouraged to be shared but sometimes I do refuse and I'll just be a happy piggy. Whatever one orders, it will be terrific and delivered with a genuine smile.
