Tomorrow on Good Food, Peggy Noe Stevens, founder of Bourbon Women explains how she likes to make a Mint Julep. She says...

  • Bring equal parts sugar and water to a boil and allow the sugar to dissolve. Steep a handful of mint in the hot simple syrup overnight until cool and thickened. Strain out the mint.
  • Put 2 Tbl of mint simple syrup in a chilled Julep glass (metal cup), put a few mint leaves in the bottom of the glass and bruise the mint (do not overdo this or it will become bitter). Add crushed ice to the mixture and fill with as much Kentucky Bourbon as the glass will hold.
  • Sip slowly from a straw.

PS. The Kentucky Derby is May 4th and 5th. Derby party anyone?
